Larry Smith’s style of standup comedy has been described as “sage wisdom from a failed rodeo clown," with optimistic candor, a gruff but personable demeanor, and some punk sensibilities. With silly observations, self-deprecation, unapologetic warmth, and relatable unpretentious storytelling, he gives a sincere, take on fatherhood, marriage, himself, and the world around him. Larry is the creator and host of the podcast "Convince Me with Larry Smith" on NPRIllinois (and The Front Row Network) and the co-creator and co-host of another podcast "Zig & Larry Ignore a Topic."
Larry has headlined and featured in comedy clubs such as Mason City Limits, The Lucky Cat, and The Grove in Lowell, AR, and has been on The Tuesday Ten at Zanies in Rosemont, IL, multiple times, and featured at Tomfoolery on Tremont at the Renwick Mansion in Davenport, IA. He's also proudly headlined independent venues such as Zoo Bar in Lincoln, NE, and Joe’s Underground in Augusta, GA, along with breweries, bars, American Legion Halls, living rooms, basements, and on the back of flatbed trailers all over the United States. He has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with talented comedians such as Pat Godwin, Shane Torres, Nate Craig, Stewart Huff, Reena Calm, and Dusty Slay, to name a few.

"You make it look effortless up there. You're just you being you, no schtick, no frills, and you're hilarious while you're doing it."
"Hey! He IS funny!"
“Larry Smith is easily one of my favorite Midwest comics right now. When I first watched Larry perform my immediate thought was 'Why don’t more people know about this guy?' A professional on and off the stage, Larry makes me want to be a better comic.”
"Larry Smith is a one of a kind talent and brings so much good energy to every stage. He's an amazing comic AND producer, and it's rare to be truly good at both. He's a man of many talents, on stage and off, and a helluva good friend. Don't miss your chance to have a genuinely great time any time you're around this man."
"Your act is a calm walk through a forest of joy. Both beautiful and funny."
